About the Author / Editor

M. Thamilarasan is Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, University of Madras, Chennai. He has worked among tribes, peasants, marginalized and aged of Tamil Nadu for over two decades and has contributed significantly in the field Sociology of Health, Ageing and Well-being through various research projects. He has authored two textbooks and edited five volumes on health and social issues. An active member of the Indian Sociological Society and the International Sociological Association, he served as Treasurer (2006-2009) and Convener (2019-2021)of Research Committee-12: Sociology of Health, Ageing and Wellbeing, Indian Sociological Society (ISS), New Delhi. He is also serving as Nominated Member in the State Level Steering Committee of Research and Development of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of Tamil Nadu.
