About the Book

A significant portion of India’s diverse population consists of tribal communities. This book explores these diverse and unique communities, focusing on their customs, traditions, and their harmonious relationship with nature. It aims to provide a deeper understanding of the various challenges faced by tribal communities in the changing landscape of globalization, liberalization, and privatization. In a globalized world, tribals face numerous challenges as they navigate alien capitalist systems, often resulting in traumatic consequences.

Recognizing the need to protect the socio-cultural fabric of tribal communities and acknowledging their contribution to nation-building, this volume also highlights the Indian government’s efforts to safeguard these communities through constitutional provisions aimed at cultural preservation, education, economic security, and political empowerment. This book will appeal to anyone interested in studying the various dimensions of tribal life in India.
